About the Citizenship

Eligibility Criteria
- You are aged 18 or over
- You have held Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) for at least 12 months (or are married to a British citizen)
- You have lived in the UK for at least 5 years (3 years if married to a British citizen)
- You have not spent more than 450 days outside the UK in the 5 years before your application
- You have not spent more than 90 days outside the UK in the 12 months before your application
- You pass the Life in the UK Test
- You meet the English language requirement at B1 CEFR level or above
- You are of good character — no serious criminal convictions, no immigration breaches, no fraud

Prepare the following documents for your Citizenship application. Our solicitors will review everything before submission.
- Valid passport and all previous passports
- Biometric Residence Permit showing ILR
- Life in the UK Test pass certificate
- English language evidence (degree in English, B1 test certificate, or equivalent)
- Travel history: comprehensive list of all trips outside the UK in the past 5 years with dates
- Evidence of residence: bank statements, utility bills, Council Tax records
- Employment history: payslips, P60s, employer letters
- Evidence of any criminal convictions (including spent convictions)
- Marriage or civil partnership certificate (if applying as spouse of British citizen)
- Evidence of any name changes
- Two passport-sized photographs
- Referee details (one referee who knows you personally)
